Some positive news about Pakistan Cricket

Finally Pakistan has won a test match, it is almost a year ago when they beat New Zealand in a test match and shared the series. From here they were supposed to go onto bigger better things but what we got was spirit crushing loss in Australia, four test captains, 7 banned players by PCB, all recalled eventually, three banned by ICC and currently being tried for spot fixing.
To raise a second string team and go onto win a test match, albeit, against New Zealand, must count for something. Credit must be given to Misbah, under his leadership Pakistan has looked hard working and solid, and Waqar Younis. Waqar would not have imagined his tenure to be full of so many controversies. On very few occasions Waqar had the ability to choose his first team but even then he has given decent results.
This victory should lead to bigger better things but will probably not, I am certain Pakistan will lose the next match, unless New Zealand does a Pakistan and manage to capitulate again. They are still short of a strong middle order bat and a reliable fast bowler and wicket taking spinner. I think they should try out Raza Hassan the under 19 left arm spinner. Kaneria is pretty much down for the count, Saeed is in his 30s and never had the impact in tests on his own, he needs support of aggressive fast bowlers like Kaneria and Abdul Rahman is hard working bowler but not a leader of the attack. He can keep things tight and take 2-3 wickets but I don't see him running through a batting lineup and regularly taking 5 fors. They may as well bring Raza Hassan into the fray, he has loop, drift, can spin the bowl, big heart and an intelligent head on his shoulders.
Let us hope the team can prove me wrong and win a test series, even if it is against the Kiwis.
Although I do believe Pakistan will be the dark horse of ICC CWC 2011, I am confident they will progress up to semi finals.
